In times of crisis the government holds COBRA meetings, drawing together heads of departments and technical experts to provide clear leadership and co-ordinate their actions and response to a crisis situation.
In today's unprecedented COVID19 situation businesses who, are also faced with making difficult decisions and taking action in response to these external events, should be holding their own COBRA meetings.
Yet the speed and severity of the change, the potential impact to family, health and business has knocked many small business owners for six, left them wondering how to make sense of the situation and, crucially, how to find a way forwards.
Working with my coaching clients I put together a checklist to guide the discussion through review of their current situation, to evaluation of options and to make a plan of action to move forwards.
Whilst the specifics for each business will vary the basics remain the same. This checklist can be used to structure and guide your discussions.
Ensure you include your own leadership team and technical experts such as your accountant, they will be able to provide the latest information on government funding/support that is available as well as your latest financial position.
If would like an external perspective, sounding board and support please get in touch. Coaching sessions are currently all being held via Skype/Zoom and can be provided as single one hour sessions without any ongoing commitment.
Keep safe & well. Janet
